Where to Place Plants:

  1. Sun-loving plants: Place sun-loving plants, such as roses and daisies, in areas that receive at least six hours of direct sunlight each day.
  2. Shade-loving plants: Place shade-loving plants, such as ferns and hostas, in areas that receive little to no direct sunlight each day.
  3. Wet areas: Choose plants that thrive in wet areas, such as cattails and irises, for areas that tend to collect water.
  4. Dry areas: Choose drought-resistant plants, such as succulents and lavender, for areas that receive little to no water.

What Plants to Use:

  1. Trees: Trees not only provide shade but also add visual interest to your yard. Some great tree options include maple, oak, and birch.
  2. Shrubs: Shrubs can provide privacy and add texture to your yard. Some great shrub options include boxwood, holly, and hydrangea.
  3. Perennials: Perennials come back year after year and add color and texture to your landscape. Some great perennial options include coneflowers, daylilies, and peonies.
  4. Annuals: Annuals are a great way to add color to your yard and can be changed out each year. Some great annual options include marigolds, petunias, and zinnias.
  5. Vegetables and herbs: Planting a vegetable or herb garden not only provides fresh produce but also adds beauty to your yard. Some great vegetable and herb options include tomatoes, peppers, basil, and rosemary.

In conclusion, choosing the right plants for your yard is essential to achieving a beautiful and healthy landscape.. By considering the amount of sunlight and water your yard receives and choosing the right trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, and vegetables and herbs, you can create a yard that is not only beautiful but also functional. Why Cache County UT one of the coldest places

Current Temperature at Peter Sinks

Peter Sinks is a remote and high-elevation location in Cache County Ut of northeastern Utah, known for its cold temperatures. It is a popular spot for outdoor enthusiasts and campers, but many people are curious about why it gets so cold there. In this blog post, we’ll explore the reasons behind Peter Sinks’ frigid climate and its history.

Elevation
One of the main reasons Peter Sinks is so cold is due to its high elevation. At over 10,000 feet above sea level, the air is much thinner, which means it contains less heat-trapping gas. This makes the temperature drop significantly, especially at night (Smith, 2019).

Proximity to snow-capped mountains
Peter Sinks is located near several snow-capped mountains, which also contributes to its cold temperatures. The snow reflects sunlight and helps keep the area cool, while also creating a stunning backdrop for visitors (Jones, 2020).

Lack of vegetation
Another factor that contributes to Peter Sinks’ cold temperatures is the lack of vegetation in the area. Trees and other plants help to trap heat and create a more temperate microclimate, but in the open and barren landscape of Peter Sinks, there is very little to block the wind or trap warmth (Brown, 2018).

Cold air drainage
Finally, Peter Sinks is also susceptible to a meteorological phenomenon known as cold air drainage. This occurs when cold air from higher elevations flows downhill, creating a pool of cool air that settles in low-lying areas (Johnson, 2021).

History
Peter Sinks has been a popular camping and outdoor recreation spot for many years. In the early 20th century, the area was used as a summer grazing area for cattle, and later became a popular spot for hunting and fishing (Smith, 2019). Today, Peter Sinks is a popular destination for hikers, campers, and nature enthusiasts, who are drawn to its remote and beautiful landscape.

In conclusion, Peter Sinks’ cold temperatures are due to a combination of factors, including its high elevation, proximity to snow-capped mountains, lack of vegetation, and cold air drainage. If you’re planning a visit to this remote and beautiful location, be sure to pack warm clothing and gear to help you stay comfortable in the colder temperatures.

What Can New Home Owners Can Do For Their Sprinkler Systems?

Sprinkler Master Repair (Cache County, UT) (435) 760-0827

Cache Valley, UT is known for its warm summers and cold winters, and as a new homeowner, it’s important to be aware of how these changing seasons can affect your sprinkler system. Here are a few things that new homeowners in Cache Valley should know about sprinkler systems:

  1. Winterize your system: The cold temperatures in Cache Valley can cause damage to your sprinkler system if it is not properly winterized. Make sure to have your system blown out before the first freeze to prevent pipes from bursting and valves from freezing.
  2. Schedule regular maintenance: Your sprinkler system should be inspected and maintained at least once a year. A qualified professional will be able to check for leaks, clogs, and broken heads, and make any necessary repairs or adjustments to keep your system running efficiently.
  3. Adjust your watering schedule: The weather in Cache Valley can change rapidly, so it’s important to adjust your watering schedule as needed. During the summer, you’ll need to water more frequently to keep your lawn and garden looking green and healthy, while in the winter, you may need to turn off your sprinkler system altogether.
  4. Check for leaks: Leaks can occur anywhere in your sprinkler system, and they can waste a lot of water and cause your water bill to spike. Keep an eye out for leaks in your sprinkler heads, valves, and pipes and have them repaired as soon as possible.
  5. Properly program your controller: The controller is the device that controls when and how your sprinkler system operates. Make sure to properly program it based on your watering needs and schedule, this way you can avoid over-watering or under-watering.
  6. Be mindful of water restrictions: Many cities and towns in Cache Valley have water restrictions in place to conserve water during the hot summer months. Be sure to check with your local government to find out if there are any restrictions in place and plan your watering schedule accordingly.

By following these tips and being mindful of the weather in Cache Valley, you can ensure that your sprinkler system is running smoothly, effectively, and efficiently all year round. Sprinkler Master Repair (Cache County, UT) is here to help you with all of your sprinkler needs. (435) 760-0827

How to fix a Sprinkler Zone

Sprinkler Master Logan, UT

(435) 760-0827

How to fix a sprinkler zone that's not working?

Sprinkler systems are amazing tools. But they can often have issues. If you're struggling with a sprinkler zone that's not working, it can seem impossible to find the fix to your problem. But you've come to the right place! Sprinkler Master in Logan UT has years of experience, and we want to help you!

Here are some potential fixes to getting a sprinkler zone working!

Sprinkler Zone Not Turning On

When a sprinkler zone isn't turning on, it's almost always because of an issue with the wiring. Wiring issues can be complicated to fix, but not impossible. To learn more about wiring, you can read this article from our main Sprinkler Master site.

In short, there are 3 things you should troubleshoot with the wiring. Start with the solenoid, test it to make sure it is working, then test the wiring by running the proper amount of voltage (usually 24v but it depends on your valves). If those are both fine you can go ahead and test that the timer is pushing the right voltage for the sprinkler valves.

If you've looked at the 3 problems with wiring, and found out that the electrical part of your problematic zone is working as intended, then you can move on to the valve itself. The easiest test method is gently tapping it while the solenoid is activated. This can help shake any debris inside loose, allowing the diaphragm to open and allow water through.

If that's done, you can try adjusting the flow control, bleeder valve, and checking to see if the solenoid is in the right spot. Sometimes the solenoid can be screwed into the valve too tightly and prevent the valve from opening. The same applies to flow control and bleeder valves.

That pretty much covers the entire valve's system, so after that you're down to water pressure. Make sure that another zone works, and then try going through the steps and parts to troubleshoot above. If you have any questions on the specifics of how to do what's listed, leave a comment below. We are always wanting to help out and we'd be happy to respond to you!

Sprinkler Zone Won't Turn Off

When a sprinkler zone isn't turning off, it can often be an issue with the mechanical part of the valve. See the video above for more help. In essense you need to check the bleeder valves, diaphragm, flow control, and solenoid and make sure they're all on and adjusted correctly. If that doesn't work, try disassembling the valve, cleaning the diaphragm and the housing and reassembling. Testing after that should result in a properly functioning zone. If it's not working correctly, usually a valve replacement will do the trick

In Conclusion

The steps are largely the same, regardless of if your zone isn't turning on, or isn't turning off. If you've tried these steps on your own and havne't fixed the problem, don't hesitate to give Sprinkler Master in Logan, UT a call!
